Dr. Brunilda Alushi

Dr. Brunilda Alushi is an interventional cardiologist at the Department of General and Interventional Cardiology of Helios Clinics in Erfurt, and researcher at the Charite´ University Hospital in Berlin, Germany.

She received her MD and later PhD in molecular medicine at the University of Turin, Italy, board-certification in Internal Medicine and Cardiology at the Charite´ University Hospital in Berlin, Germany. After training in biostatistics at the ISAR research center in Munich, Germany, she focused on advanced methodologies of clinical research at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, Boston, USA.

The research and clinical field of interest of Dr. Alushi encompass multimodality imaging and transcatheter therapies for valvular heart diseases. She is winner of the Best Poster in Cardiogenic Shock at the 2018 ESC Congress and winner of the 2020 grant of the European Association for Cardiovascular Imaging. Dr. Alushi is an active member of the DGK, ESC, EAPCI and EACVI.

Prof. Dr. med Alexander Lauten

Prof. Dr. med Alexander Lauten is an interventional cardiologist, specialized in transcatheter therapies for structural heart diseases, Head of the Department of General and Interventional Cardiology of Helios Clinics in Erfurt, and Professor of Structural Interventions at the Charité University Hospital in Berlin, Germany.

The clinical and interventional expertise of Prof. Lauten encompasses the whole spectrum of transcatheter therapies, especially valvular heart diseases. His research focuses on clinical and experimental studies for the interventional treatment of valvular heart diseases. He is winner of several national and international awards (among others, Innovations Award of the German Ministry of Research and Education, Publication Award of the German Society of Cardiology 2011, Best Poster Award at TCT 2009, Moderated Poster Award ESC 2012, Poster Award in Valvular Heart Diseases at ACC 2012). Prof. Lauten is an inventor and coauthor of several books and more than 200 peer-reviewed publications in the field of interventional cardiology and valvular heart diseases.
